Asian American Dream
Becoming of an Asian American Leader -Part 1

As an Asian Immigrant/American where humility is prized and silence is Golden; its a tough job to be a leader. Even though Asian American produce the highest number of graduates compared to any other group their representation is the lowest across all industries.(Deborah Woo)
Similar following researchs has indicated that even with English skills, U.S. citizenship, comparable or superior levels of education, Asian Americans continued to earn less than their white counterparts in same occupations, and the cost of being an immigrant was greater if one were Asian than white.
I realized the culture difference; brand image and aggressiveness plays a big role in becoming a leader.
Why is there a low returns on Executive Managerial positions/Leadership positions for AA's even though having a higher education?
The main Obstacles:-
1)Individual Characteristics 2)Company's Characteristics
-Language -Written and Verbal communications skills -Subjective promotional process
-Lack of Role Models -Lack of absence on AA in Managerial position
-Interpersonal Skills -Lack Of encouragement from Supervisor
-Leadership Skills -Racial Prejudice /stereotypes
3) Pointing out to the Cultural traits.- Are the Asian values to Blame? "They" won't say it because for a AA......
a) Having a candid discussion with supervisor is not easy
b) Discouraged by the environment (lack of role model)
c) “No matter how hard I try…...”
d) “I don’t know the unwritten rules for success”
e) “I don’t have a sponsor”
f) Pride issue
4) Another factor is the “What if they say ‘NO’ factor? "I get so embarrassed begging. For me it’s like begging.”I can't face him again.
5) Then you have the Indirect communication style I “Hinted several times, but nothing happens. That means ‘NO’, I guess”
A must read would be to read The Asian American Experience by Michael Liao
