Imagine a smaller version of linkedin where in your co-workers are the ONLY ones you are connected to you.
The focus is on the relationships that naturally/already exist in the corporate environment
That's Worksona for you.
It says Worksona is a place to grow your network and build relationships at your company.
Brilliant!! Another linkedin? and source more names ? Nah don't even bother at this point...
FAQ states that Worksona is not about recruiting or lead generation. It lets people who work at your company into your Worksona community.
it might be a place for you if you are not getting recognized in your own Co; Go to this site and get some applauses.
My point is if your manager isn't aware of your accomplishments, How would the recognition in
a third party website matter?
Any social networking site is really about building relationships. Worksona has a long way to go for a place of empowerment (quality of workplace )for people in Corporate America.
I applaud their intentions though...

Viadeo has also launched a nice concept of the private Community Area - where you have all the tools of the main site in a private area run by and owned by your company or association. This is on the same platform as the main network but the profiles and info is completely separate.
You can have different levels of access: purely private for your company employees and CEO etc, semi-private with your clients and suppliers, or public.
Individuals can determine what status they want - so your sensitive staff can stay private but your business developer can both be in the private area and network on the public site with nearly 2 million contacts! All with the same profile.

I think this is a great social network for a big company where employee has no chance on meeting each other. Also company heads can use this venue to post some announcements
