SourceCon 2007

Hat's off to Leslie  (Now you know who was behind SourceCon) and anyone who had been involved in the first Global Conference for Sourcers, Researchers and Recruiters.

The day 2 in SourceCon completed with the Grand Master challenge which was won by (drum roll please)
Michael Notaro. The challenge was to find women software engineers affliated to associations.

Congratulations to all the three finalist(Jeremy Langhans and Suzy Tonini who were up there. Even though they were little shaky and tensed who wouldn't be? They all  did great and deserved to be there and I can tell you that all the three are really cool guys....
The second day started with an excellent presentation by Mr. Stan Smith from Deloitte on the next generation talent
pools. The presentation was about the generation gap issues, workers shortage, Strategic Dilemmas the recruiters and companies are facing and how to over come it. I would say this presentation must have erased any doubt (if anyone had) on attending this conference. It won't do justice by saying just an excellent presentation;rather a Masterpiece.
Ms.Susan Burnswas on her best with ideas on Developing a Strategy for Talent Acquisition with an approach to future that supports agility & increased predictability.
She was followed by Rob McIntosh- One of the most talented sourcing leader in the industry. While making the sourcers
accountable to number of hires ;he presented why metrics are important and to track them.
The afternoon session started with Ms. Tracey Friend with her extensive experience on determining Outsourcing your
recruiting /sourcing function.
Then ladies and Gentleman it was time that every sourcer dreams everyday on how to source candidates for free.  Glenn Gutmacher gave great ideas to source faster, efficiently and effectively.
Krista Bradford gave excellent ideas on Market Intellegience, gathering requirement and other alternative sources which one should looking.

Well then it was time for the Grand Master Challenge which Mike Notaro won.

Like the previous day the third day started with a bang and the man of the hour was Mr. Danny Cahill. I could have listened to him speaking the whole day. He was brilliant with his ideas on what you "should be doing" AND "not doing" while talking to a candidate. He emphasized the fact that people like to be with people who are similar and how important
referrals are.
The crowd was screaming for more when Shally unleashed his new never seen hacks to find resumes, names and use of new commands to source from search engines. This man is brilliant and a real power house on internet searching.

Eric Jaquith- Till date I had only heard of him and was so glad to meet him personally and see his presentation onsourcing tips. It wasn't about searching rather he showed simple ways to organize your Outlook, folder ,candidate emailing.. things like that. This is so so important and no one talks about it. Thanks Eric.
I always thought I do an excellent job in managing, searching my Outlook but Eric on use of macros was steps ahead.

Afternoon started with a three great leaders Mr. Marc Hutto , Ms Constance LaDouceur and Mr. Denny Clark presentingSourcing Solution Models. A real life example on how Mr. Hutto implemented sourcing at Wachovia. A complete overview on how sourcing could be implemented with process to be considered.

Amybeth was at her best on what and who is a Sourcer/ researcher with the roles and descriptions. She gave the picture that its the passion that drives you to become a researcher not your background. A big congrats to her on her new position.
Dave Copps CEO at PureDiscovery unveiled his new adventure ..umm rather passion which soon may be available to all recruiters for free. Keep watching for his semantic software as these servers with brains and you don't need to be a boolean expert to get resumes from leading search engines and even job boards.

The conclusion and the finale(drum rolls again) was the panel discussion on Internet or Phone sourcing... and of course Internet sourcing on by a large margin...just kidding.. It concluded with the agreement that both are very important and has its appropriate values. The panel consisted of Russ Moon (Wachovia), Tim O' Connor (Cap Gemini),Conni LaDouceur, Jeremy Langhans(Cisco),Daphne Mahotiere, Leah Hughes (Countrywide), Moises Lopezand yours only Rithesh Nair(KPMG).

Those who didn't or didn't get the chance to attend should make this a must for Next year and something tells me that
it would be in New York (Its my inner voice...)
Check out Jim's blog for more photos and videos which should coming online soon.
