IBM Rescinds Job Offer

IBM Rescinds Job Offer.

Vietnamese blogger Nguyen Tien Trungwas offered a job by IBM. That was a dream come for him and then he gets the "evil" call and its HR on the other line..

Do you blog?
  Yes I do.
Do you write for BBC?
  Yes I do.
Do you talk about free speech, freedom and democracy.
  Yes I do.
Ok; it was nice knowing you...dial tone...
The next morning a certified mail which states ... "Sorry" but we are rescinding the job offer.
This is kind of happened to Nguyen Tien Trung and this is a guy who met President George Bush at a GOP meet.

I am not sure if the job offer was conditional (Beware potential IBM employees stop writing about democracy)

Every time a Employer rescinds an offer its has to have a valid job-related issue, consistent with business necessity, and demonstrate that the applicant could not perform an essential function of the job.
Not sure how it works in Vietnam though.
Although it's legal in most instances to withdraw job offers, the reasons for doing so should be sound, and the process should be carried out carefully.

The fun part is when I heard that The Electronic Industry Code of Conduct (EICC) ; which is a code of best practices adopted and implemented by someof the world’s major electronics brands  and which IBM helped
develop clearly states among other things that It will not discriminate based on religion and political affliations... HELLOOOOOO

Latest news:- IBM won't talk...surprise surprise.
