Donate for Education

MERRY CHRISTMAS! And now make someone's life really merry.

People are very generous during the holidays, and many are looking for a way to give to their communities. Some wants to feel good about themselves or for tax purposes or just help.

This year if you are still in dilemma on which charity to choose from check out Give.org which lists more than 2000 charities nationally with articles, features and accountability reports.

I am very skeptical on donations and always I think (like many others) if the money is reaching the right person. It was right on time when 20/20 had a story on Donorschoose.org

It was a suprise for  many when The National Center for Education Statistics summarized the findings in "Highlights From PISA 2006." American students ranked 33rd among industrialized countries in math literacy, and in science literacy, they ranked 27th.  This a big issue in this country candidates and many of the low income neighborhood school doesn't even have the basic necessity like paper, pencil, books or paint colors.

DonorsChoose which was founded by a former teacher helps fulfill basic needs for kids. It gives you full accountability on where your money is going , why and whom.

Like the name suggests (Donors... Choose) you choose what type of project you like to fund either completely or partially.Anyone who wants to be a donor can visit the site, select a project and fund it for as little as $10.

My choice of project was "SHHHH!!!!! Quiet Please"(see below) and candidly some of the projects I would never give a dime but most of them really needs help.

I have 500+ visitors coming to my site every month and I really hope if everyone contributes a min(that's 1 day of Starbucks for you) could make a huge impact. I know most of you won't mind doing that so please don't procrastinate and click
www.donoroschoose.org for the project I am supporting (it needs another $248) or choose any project you like.
