Reverse Migration OR Salmon Phenomenon

br>Reverse Migration OR Salmon Phenomenon

The last couple of days there has been a lot of news about reverse migration.
Immigrants in the United States (mostly Illegal) are returning to their native land. The US economy going in recession, back home the economy is booming in countries like India, China and Brazil.

Everyone has a different reason to go back.. One of my friend who recently took a high paying job in Barclays, India (Pune)  left US after 4 years mentioned about going back to his roots/his family...but I think it had to do a lot with the high salary
Barclays gave him and so many companies giving out in India.
For many illegals it might be due to the tougher restriction on getting drivers license renewed or like many
Brazilians immigrants in Boston or NJ it just might be the economy.

Few days back Miamiherald had the news about more Hispanics retiring to native homelands. The many reasons that were quoted were more health benefits for retiress back home, better value for the money they have saved in US and able to maintain the same standard of living and anxiety at returning to one's roots. You can read the complete
article here.

When my friend went back to Pune, India last month; I was thinking is it time for me to go back? but then I got a email from my folks out there who were counting the days for the summer to be over and on top of that
NO electricity at 115 degrees for 3-4 hrs every day. Wow.........idea dropped and that too for a long time...... may be I will think again when I am about to retiree ...

No electricity for 3-4 hours a day? Your perhaps probably moved to below-average apartment without power backups, and probably does not want to invest in an inverter. Temperature might be a botheration if his job needs him to be on the road (like a traffic policemen).
My friend, looks like you don't want to consider moving to India, and just looking for any reason to convince yourself.
    Best of luck.

Pls look again I was quoting Merc from Times Of India.(http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Pune/Power_cuts_in_city_likely_from_April_5/articleshow/2915645.cmswWhat does it supposed to mean by below -Avg apt? Half of the Indian population can't even afford a below avg apt.
The apt has powerbackups- but make me understand that why I need to pay a private electric co double of what the electricity should cost & why I should be buying a inverter when I paying the taxes(which the govt forgoes for the farmer to win elections). Rather make the whole thing private? Aren't they able to provide 24/7 electricity?
This article wasn't about going back to my good O'l country which I love dearly but about the lack of enthusiasm among the Indians who thinks by getting a BPO job they are doing well instead of pointing the govt to get it right. Govt can never do anything right but could definitely make the policies conducive for others to make it right. hello .........- start sending a garland to your MLA- I did that! Start speaking!

Yeah u are right I can't imagine how the policeman are doing there job with a $50-$100 salary per month & then you wonder why Indian police is one of the most corrupted(http://www.livemint.com/2007/12/06232832/Parties-police-most-corrupt.html)? I am not blaming them - they gotta live.
Temp is a botheration for everyone - jeez I lived in a hut like apt for so many years of my studies on one of the hottest places in India(Nagpur) but looks like nothing has changed since then. Yes people have more purchasing power -but let me know the last time they had a major Infrastructure initiavtive?http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_12/b4026001.htm?chan=search
I understand that criticizing is easy but I am tired of hearing that India is a superpower when its the home to the largest number of hungry people in the world(
http://www.rediff.com/news/2003/aug/07hungry.htm) Isn't it smarter to have a self reliant country than a superpower label which doesn't makes sense?
