Boss Or Colleague takes the Credit for Your Work
You are definitely smarter than me if it didn't happened to you. First of all get over the fact that you have lot of ideas and anybody cares. This is one of the most common problem and happens everyday in every office. They not only get ahead of you for promotion but gets the accolades too. Most of the time these are people who themselves don't have any strategic vision but are parasites living on your ideas. You can't do much other than being more sneakier than them (ofcourse next time) and think more smarter next time you are doing a project.
The Boss:-
1)The one who fully knows your contribution but don't acknowledge. Typically this ones your boss. Don't you want to kick his /her *%$#? Next time create the ppt in a way that he had to ask for you help for delivery and if you aren't around that time just start making excuses and never do the project.
or see he/she is gossiping around the coffee machine - drop the bomb shell on how "how long it took for you do that presentation". Next time you have an idea mention in your blog first or keep the idea to yourself and sell it at the right time or only in front of others. The bizarre thing is if your boss is stealing your ideas then start looking for work elsewhere as its moronic to work for a boss like that where you won't learn anything. Hey but then market is so bad. .. I don't want to look for another job.. gottacha get back to ya..![]()
And by the way don't complain, talk or have conversation with you boss.. it will be always a conflict.
2)Your Colleague..
Now you need to give a stronger kick on his/her ......... this ones going to impact your yearly performance review, your raise, promotion and above all your value to the co. You definitely need to kick this one and make sure you say that "you better acknowledge me next time or I will do it myself (Kinda of cheesy?.. yeah may be) but you don't have a choice here.
Like I said there's always a next time. .. let it go.. its friday.
NOTE TO MYSELF:- Wear a CUP everyday to office.

I am SO glad I don't have to deal with either of these. My coworkers and I function like a well-oiled machine and no one takes credit where credit isn't due. And our boss sets an excellent example - he listens to our ideas (and actually institutes them) and will even open the floor for discussion if it's an idea that's a bit out there or not quite appropriate.
I really feel sorry for folks who don't have the good fortune to work in this kind of environment.

Wow, Rithesh, it sounds like you had a bad week at work! But I think everyone has experienced something like this, especially at larger companies where there are more people in HR/recruiting and the politics are typically more intense. Short of leaving the company and hoping you can find a team like the one of the previous commenter, the best thing you can do in that situation is make sure you toot your own horn whenever you do good work and make sure others know it (beyond the obnoxious boss or colleague), too. Eventually, you'll get another opportunity which takes you away from the offender's influence or the offender will move out.

Yikes Rithesh! Good thing I don't have that kind of ambiance- first off I work virtually (LOVE IT), and second, my bosses and co-workers so far have been nothing less than team players and trusting of my judgement. But you're right- I don't think those kinds of conditions would be very conducive to a great & productive environment...Hang in there!!! Maybe talk to the boss's boss's boss about it?
